Day 8: Resurrection Sunday – He is Alive!

They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes. The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee. – Luke 24:2-6

Take a moment and let this sink in, on Friday, Jesus was brutally beaten, and killed right before their very eyes. The teacher that they had given everything to follow was dead. Their sorrow is almost palpable. They came to mourn their friend. When they look into the grave, what do they find? An empty tomb! After an encounter with some angels that terrifies them, they rushed to tell the others.

Everything Jesus taught them, everything the prophets said, everything their Lord promised—it was all true. The Son of God died, was buried, and rose again, defeating sin and death forever. Now, we don’t have to struggle to save ourselves. Jesus came to be our way back to God.

On this Resurrection Sunday, we celebrate that our Savior is just as alive today as He was when He showed His disciples His hands and feet and said, “Touch me and see, because ghosts don’t have flesh and bones like I do”.

Our God isn’t distant or weak. Jesus Christ is the risen Messiah, born to set us free through His life, death, and resurrection. Our hope is real, and Jesus is alive! He is truly alive.
