Advent Day 21: The Wait Is Worth It

That day the Spirit led him to the Temple. So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required, Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God – Luke 2:27-28

In Luke 2:25-32, we learn about Simeon, a man who received a promise from God that he’d see the Messiah before he died. Simeon spent his whole life waiting for this promise to come true. The Spirit led him to the temple courts, where God’s promise finally happened. He met Mary, Joseph, and even held baby Jesus. Imagine waiting your whole life for God’s promise and then experiencing it—the wait was worth it!

Think about holding a symbol of God’s faithfulness in your arms. Simeon took Jesus in his arms and praised God. We don’t know if he cried or danced, but put yourself in his shoes, and you’d probably do the same. Praise would be the most fitting response!

If you’ve been waiting on a promise from God for what feels like forever, don’t give up. God is faithful, and He knows the perfect timing. Whether your promise comes true quickly or after a long wait, the result is worth it. Trust in His timing and keep holding on.

Prayer:

Father, I praise You because You are faithful! I know that You are trustworthy and Your promises to me are true. I will not give up believing in Your promises, and I wait in anticipation for the day I see them fulfilled. I know Your timing is perfect. Help me remain faithful to You as I wait.
