Advent Day 16: The Peace Of Divine Purpose

As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” -Matthew 1:20-21

In a dream, an angel told Joseph not to fear taking Mary as his wife because the child within her was from the Holy Spirit. Joseph, initially afraid and confused, was reassured in a dream about God’s purpose, setting him on the path to be Jesus’ earthly father.

Fear can be a roadblock, distracting us from God’s direction. God repeatedly said, “Do not be afraid,” to key players in the Christmas story, ensuring His plan unfolded. In moments of fear, seek God’s truth and let His love conquer anxiety. Ask Him to speak the truth, breaking the power of lies. Remember, fear bows to Jesus’ name. This Christmas, and always, take fearful thoughts to God for His peace to reign.

Prayer:

Father, Your Word says You’ve given us power, love, and a sound mind, not fear. Thank You for equipping me to move forward. I praise You that fear bows to Jesus. Help me capture fearful thoughts and bring them to You for Your peace this Christmas season and always.
